From Our Website

David Cunningham Associates, based in the City of Chelmsford, Essex, is an independent practice of Chartered Building Surveyors, Chartered Building Engineers and Architectural Designers which provides a range of building surveying, engineering and architectural services to clients in the private and public sectors. We are based in the City of Chelmsford, Essex but often work throughout the UK and occasionally in Europe. If you want to find out more about how David Cunningham Associates can help your property and business needs, please do not hesitate to call us on 01245 221661.

Buildings begin to deteriorate from the time they are constructed and require constant care and maintenance in order to preserve the fabric and investment value. Our Chartered Building Surveyors can provide in-depth technical advice concerning your specific property needs, drawing from our expert knowledge of construction problems (often arising from bad detailing) and design solutions. On development schemes and larger building projects we can offer a ‘turn key' operation. Our project managers (who are all Chartered Building Surveyors), acting as the single point of contact with a client, use our in house architectural and building surveying teams together with external consultants (as the project dictates) to ensure a scheme is delivered on time, to the required quality and at the agreed price.

Before buying or leasing a property, it is wise to have the building surveyed to establish its condition, and to identify any significant defects. Our surveyor will provide a detailed report and recommend further investigations of a specialist nature if necessary. We can inspect and report on commercial, residential and industrial properties throughout the UK. We can help prospective landlords and tenants to protect their interests by preparing a schedule of condition, before a lease is entered into.

Our quantity surveying service includes all aspects of contract procurement: advising on tender and contract procedures and forms of contract; producing tender documents and specifications; advising on the suitability of contractors for tendering; appraising design and-build package tenders; and negotiating substantial contracts. Other services include cost planning, life cycle costing, cash flow forecasts and capital allowance schedules. We can provide valuations of buildings for insurance purposes, so that clients are neither under insured nor paying unnecessarily high premiums.

Because architecture is involved with almost every aspect of the services we provide, at David Cunningham Associates our strength and experience in this area leads to direct satisfaction for our clients combining traditional and modern approaches. Our architectural team, working with our building surveyors, can provide a complete design service for commercial, industrial and residential buildings, whether it be a new development or the refurbishment, alteration or extension of existing properties.
