The legal profession is a growing market for us as already provide a number of legal firms with measurement solutions including land registry compliant plans, Ordnance Survey mapping and boundary determination. The UK property markets is controlled by the UK Land Registration system which whilst applying titles to parcels of land, does not define property boundaries. HM Land Registry (HMLR) is responsible for compiling and maintaining a database of land titles, the information of which has been submitted to HMLR over the years and provides no guarantee to the accuracy of the data.

The tourism & leisure industries provide many opportunities for Formby Surveys, especially in the North West, following the award of Liverpool as the 2008 European Capital of Culture. The leisure and tourism industries are two of the largest and fastest growing sectors (in 2008, the tourism industry employed over 1.5 million people in the UK) providing opportunities, due to its constantly changing nature, brought about by adapting to keep up with new developments and social trends. If you're working on a leisure or tourism project and require further information, or if you would like to request a quote please don't hesitate to contact us.

Formby Surveys has a history of providing services to both the health and education sectors and we've recently been engaged by the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, completing a topographical survey, 3D laser scanning and utilities survey. We have the capabilities to manage all sizes and scale of projects in these sectors including Schools, GP Surgeries and hospitals. Like any other sector, we are committed to delivering quality whilst also assisting the design process and delivery of efficient solutions for our clients.

Year on year, there are thousands of instances worldwide where ground excavations and new buildings have resulted in utility strikes, costing great sums of money in compensation, repairs or even worse; injury to workers. Because of this, it's of paramount importance to know exactly what is buried beneath a site prior to any construction work commencing, identifying any existing utility, not only underground but all around the site, can help to avoid complications and can assist in the development of a project.

Formby Surveys has been providing surveys of public buildings and infrastructure for over 20 years covering conventional topographical surveys and utility surveys for local and education authorities and hospitals. Over the last decade the public sector has invested heavily in their education and health estates and this has led to the progression from conventional 2D property data such as floor plans and elevations to database driven asset management plans from which both spatial and non-spatial data can be maintained and analysed through facilities management systems.

Accurate area calculations are used as the basis for valuations, marketing and property ratings, in both the commercial and residential sectors, and are defined as the usable floor space within a building (excluding certain specific areas). The measurement of space is factual, not subjective, and Formby Surveys can offer unbiased, independent area referencing, providing area reports, spreadsheet data and plan information undertaken accurately and in line with the latest edition of the RICS Code of Measuring Practice.
