WORK EXPERIENCE 2010-Present Metropex Group Ltd Quantity Surveyor Job Responsibilities: Preparing contract documentation e.g. BoQ's & schedules of work Preparing and analysing tenders Sub-contractor acquisition Preparing sub-contract packages Undertaking sub-contract comparisons & analysis Actively participating in design team meetings with clients & sub-contractors Producing estimates for materials, time and labour costs Conducting site based valuations & liaising with the site based surveyors Undertaking costs analysis for variation works Conducting tender negotiations Key Achievements: i). Fast Learner & Valued team Member - Having first been assigned as assistant QS, I have proved myself more capable and now report directly to the senior QS and Directors. ii). Gaining significant experience in the Civil Engineering sector Working on a variety of projects in the Rail sector including Crossrail, LOROL & LU infrastructure & effective application of the NEC3 form of contract. iii). Working on projects ranging from ?20k to ?3m QS & Project Management skills have been developed and broadened, managing multiple projects simultaneously. iv). Procurement Strategies Management Contracting & Joint Venture works now account for approximately 30% of annual turnover. This has given me invaluable experience in dealing with this process. v). Preparing all BoQ documentation and sub-contractors packages The essentials of good QS practice have been honed with experience and meeting new challenges. Another facet of contracting that has been improved has been the acquisition, interview & assessment of potential sub-contractors. vi). Valuations & CVRs Implementation of site based QS practice. Assisting site based surveyors with valuations, variations & any repair/maintenance works. This has been useful in developing a broader base of commercial knowledge & helped in my design of a searchable database for the site surveying teams with remote access. 2007-2009 Gap Year, Paris 2004-2007 Rydon Construction Ltd Pre-Contract Quantity Surveyor Job Responsibilities: Preparing contract documentation including BoQ's & ancillary schedules Preparing TQs for design team participants Site surveys Groundwork cut/fill digital mapping QS CAD Key Achievements: vii). I started my QS career with a large design & build contractor, working in the residential and commercial sectors. This has given me an excellent knowledge base with the traditional forms of construction and applied measuring. viii). Working on projects ranging from ?100k to ?14m Involvement in large residential design & build schemes albeit in a junior capacity gave me a very good grounding in the fundamentals of construction.
